IGNORANCE + BLISS

"Ignorance is bliss."

That is far from the truth my friends. Ignorance leads to nothing, ignorance empowers nothing, and ignorance isn't fascinating, curious, or exciting. Ignorance is only good for one thing, and that is that it is the reason we must pursue knowledge. Knowledge opens doors, leads you to new paths, and helps you create what you've never been able to before. What's amazing in today's world is that we're drowning in information, but we're still starved for knowledge.

Access to information, tutorials, mentors and learning experiences is easier than it has ever been, and that's really exciting! I can't tell you how many hours I've spent reading online, watching YouTube videos, or reaching out and chatting with mentors that I look up too, but all those things aren't enough.

While there have been huge advances in combining technology and education  there is still only one way for us as stylists to get better, and that is to do. The way to become a master is through experience and repetition. You may watch the same video over and over, but until you actually have the experience of doing it over and over you won't get better.

It's one of the reasons we strive to provide so much hands-on education with our workshops both though our own FORM + FUNCTION classes and our F+F FEATURING series like our upcoming class with Gerard Scarpaci. (Ps. We only invite who we want to learn to from.) We do hands-on in order to give you the chance to begin the experience part of learning, it's then up to you to follow through with the repetition.

Some might say that it's too hard to pay for education, but what's your other option, to just not learn? The more you learn, the more you can do. The more you can do, the more you can make. I literally spend thousands of dollars every year to learn for myself and to get education for my salon team. I take great pride in that because I know that is one of the reasons that we're so successful.

Let's drop this notion that Ignorance is bliss. Our bliss comes from being able to accomplish our dreams and live the Successful Lifestyle that we envision for ourselves. It's not ignorance, it's knowledge that is bliss.
