TIME MANAGEMENT IS A WASTE OF TIME
YOU CAN'T STOP THE CLOCK FROM TICKING
One of the common questions that has come up in our SOCIAL classes has always been something along the lines of "How do you find the time to do all this?" and I'll jokingly respond with "You think you're busier than me?" but to me, the question isn't about the time, it's about the actions.
See, no matter how hard we try there will never be a 25th hour in the day (hey, you do get an extra day every four years though) so by us trying to "time manage" we're basically fighting a losing battle. I don't like that, I like setting myself up to win from the get go. That's why I changed the way I looked at things. It's not about time management, it's about action management.
With action management, we are in fact able to control the outcome. Its up to us to be able to figure out what actions have the highest priority and make sure those get done. I highly value marketing and social media, thats why in my day to day work flow, I'm able to manage my actions to make sure it gets done. When you finish a guests cut, the action of asking to Instagram a photo takes more action than it does time. When a color is processing, you can sit in the back room waiting, or you can make a blog entry (like I am now) and make sure you're in action as much as possible.
One of my favorite realizations is the fact that anyone that has accomplished anything, any mentor you have chosen, has the same amount of hours in the day as you. Time isn't the factor, actions are. Take it upon yourself to manage your actions and you'll see you're able to accomplish everything you're setting out to.
